Today, more than ever, students need to have a competitive advantage as they enter the global business environment. Marketing majors learn how to create marketing strategies and tactics to develop marketing plans. Those who choose Marketing as a major will receive practical experience that will strengthen their skill sets at becoming marketing or marketing research managers. Preparing you for the real world with experiential learning activities is a key goal of the Marketing major. You'll get a firsthand look at how organizations market themselves with interesting hands-on class assignments. Research projects for companies, organizations, and even city governments provide valuable experience for our students. For example, in the Marketing Research course, students worked with the Springfield Chamber of Commerce constructing a survey, analyzing data, and making a final presentation to the client. In our Sales and Sales Management course, students compete on the local and national levels with their digital presentations that are judged by professionals in companies such as Northwestern Mutual.
