About the course
The B.S. degree in Art with a major in Industrial Design requires 78 credit hours in graphic design, art, art history and art and design-related courses. Of these hours, 42 must be taken in Industrial Design courses. Industrial Design students study sculpture and form, drawing, making, material science, sociological and anthropological research methods, systems thinking, history, writing, and design theory. ID students also receive exposure to basic engineering, advanced manufacturing & fabrication processes, and common marketing, business, and entrepreneurship practices. The Industrial Design program at JMU equips students with the creative problem-solving skills necessary to become innovative design leaders. Competitive applicants will have excellent class rank and an academic background that shows a strong program of study. Proof of English language proficiency in ONE of the following ways: IBT (Internet Based TOEFL): 80
TOEFL, PBT (Paper Based TOEFL): 550. SAT score of 500 on the Evidenced Based Reading and Writing Portion of SAT exam. IELTS score of 6.5. Official transcripts (complete and original copy, in English). One letter of recommendation.
