About the course
The geology and geophysics undergraduate program at Missouri S&T offers a unique blend of geoscience courses and emphasis areas that are designed for your success in pursuing careers in areas such as petroleum, mining, environmental, and consulting and regulation.
Geologists, geochemists, and geophysicists study the history, composition, and structure of Earth and other planetary bodies. The expertise and activities in the geology and geophysics program help make the Missouri University of Science and Technology one of the leading U.S. research universities. Faculty and students are investigating areas such exploration for strategic minerals to help power green energy initiatives, water resources and water security issues, paleoclimate studies using cores from lake sediments, palynostratigraphy (microfossils), geophysical characterization of geological hazards (e.g., earthquakes, reflection and theoretical seismology, computational geophysics, petroleum exploration, the genesis of ore deposits, magmatism, and global tectonics. How to apply
Entry requirements for Missouri University of Science and Technology
Submit official paper copies of transcripts from all secondary schools you have attended that show courses taken, grades earned, rank in class, grade point average and class of division earned, if applicable. Official transcripts are paper copies sent directly from the issuing institution to Missouri S&T and must bear the institution’s seal and appropriate signature. Transcripts must show your most recent semester of completed coursework. Missouri S&T seeks international students who have a strong probability of succeeding at the university. Admission is selective and based on a combination of secondary school core curriculum (a set of required secondary school classes), ACT and/or SAT composite scores (if available), grade point average (GPA), and class rank percentile. (For non-ranking schools, GPA will be used to evaluate your application). In addition, international students must fulfill Missouri S&T’s English language proficiency requirement. Minimum English proficiency test score requirements are 79 for TOEFL, 6.0 for IELTS.
