About the course

The College of Science offers two undergraduate degrees in forensic science: Forensic Biology and Forensic Chemistry. Many forensic scientists work in crime laboratories. For example, a forensic biologist usually specializes in DNA analysis or continues to medical school to pursue a career as a medical examiner, a forensic chemist analyzes non-biological trace evidence found at crime scenes in order to identify unknown materials and match samples to known substances.Play a key role in the criminal justice system through the application of science by becoming a forensic scientist. In this program, students gain a strong, multidisciplinary foundation in chemistry, biology, physics and geology. Visiting judges, lawyers and law enforcement personnel from both the U.S. and Mexico offer valuable, real-world education.

  Career Opportunities

How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Texas - El Paso

Official High School or College transcripts must be sent directly from the schools attended in the U.S. or abroad. Foreign transcripts must also be accompanied by a Credential Evaluation by a certified credentialing service. All international students must submit entrance exam scores. Take one of the following exams and request your scores to be sent directly to UTEP from the testing center:

  SAT: minimum score of 1070 (reading + math sections) with a score of 480 on the reading section

  ACT: minimum composite score of 23 with a score of 19 on the English section

  TOEFL: minimum score of 500 on UTEP’s institutional paper based exam or

  a minimum score of 61 on the Internet Based TOEFL (IBT)

  UTEP does not accept IELTS scores for admission.
