About the course

Majoring in food science and human nutrition isn?t just about food, it?s about the whole process ? from the design to the distribution stages and everything in between. While at Clemson, you?ll follow foods from the seed, through the grocery store and onto our plates. As a food science and human nutrition major, you?ll learn all there is to know about how food impacts the human body and our society. This program is more than just classroom learning, as you?ll spend hours in labs creating and learning about all the wonderful qualities of foods. No matter if you prefer the chemistry of combining food elements, exploring the safety of the foods we buy or aiding a young celiac patient in selecting a safe diet, you?ll leave Clemson prepared to take your career to the next level. With this concentration, you will be prepared for a career within the food industry at the local, regional, national or global level. You?ll also be able to focus your studies in one of three emphasis areas: food packaging and manufacturing operations, sustainable food, nutrition and health, or culinology. All three emphasis areas are approved by the Institute of Food Technologies (IFT). How to apply

Entry requirements for Clemson University

Application form with an application-processing fee, drawn from either a U.S. bank or a U.S. dollar account.

　　Scores from the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) or American College Testing (ACT).

　　Official TOEFL or IELTS scores. English proficiency is measured through the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

　　TOEFL (code: 5111): Internet Based ? 80 or higher. Paper-Based ? 550 or higher

　　IELTS (code: 5111): -6.5 or higher (minimum of 6.0 in each sub score)

　　Note: Transfer applicants attending U.S. institutions who have passed English composition courses I and II that are equivalent to Clemson University's ENGL 1030 with a grade of B or better are exempt from the TOEFL/IELTS requirement. The test can also be waived for students from countries where English is the primary language or one of the official languages.
