About the course

With the interdisciplinary Engineering Science program, students can chart their own academic path. The core of the program consists of minors in two different departments, allowing students breadth and flexibility. Engineering Science has a unique structure that allows students to keep up with the rapid pace of technology and societal change by charting a course into emerging areas. As the only interdisciplinary degree program at UVA Engineering, Engineering Science students can create an undergraduate program that matches their interests or career goals by combining a minor in one engineering discipline with a second minor in mathematics, science or another engineering discipline. These two minors, in combination with additional technical elective courses, allow each student to define for themselves an academic program that fits their professional interests. Our Engineering Science major has the advantage of moving students to the interface between disciplines, where solutions to the complex challenges society faces are likely to be found. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of Virginia

Applicants are required to submit Secondary School Forms and Transcript. The undergraduate schools of the University offer possible credit for scores of 5, 6, or 7 on many higher-level IB examinations. Students whose first language is not English are required to provide evidence of their English proficiency by submitting the results of the TOEFL or the IELTS. A TOEFL or IELTS score should not be more than two years old. Most admitted students attain a total score of at least 600 on the PBT TOEFL, 250 on the CBT TOEFL, or 7.0 on the IELTS. The University anticipates that individuals who provide a score on the iBT TOEFL will likely earn a score of at least 22 in writing, 22 in speaking, 23 in reading, and 23 in listening for a total score of 90.
