About the course
Students planning to be certified to teach early childhood through grade 6 (EC-6) and special education early childhood through grade 12 (EC-12) will secure an interdisciplinary academic major and meet the appropriate general studies requirements. To be eligible for Texas certification, students will follow the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) Core Subjects EC-6 standards and the Special Education EC-12 standards. Students will follow a course of study which includes the following components: (1) General Studies, (2) Professional Responsibility, and (3) Interdisciplinary Academic Major, which consists of 36 upper-level credit hours.
