About the course
Students engage in ample hands-on learning in courses such as the Project Experience course, which is designed to provide valuable internship and project management experience so students are well-prepared before graduation. Cyber Engineering focuses on the development of secured cyber systems, which consists of integrated mechanics, electronics, computer hardware and software in a networked, web-enabled environment. Course and project work emphasizes hardware and software design, hardware root-of-trust, trusted operating systems, secure communication and secure networked services. Cyber Engineering integrates hardware and software interfaces to provide the platform of a secured system, and helps students learn the tools and techniques to develop the secure embedded systems for our knowledge economy. Cyber Engineering majors are in high-demand for today's job market due to the many applications cyber engineering has in a vast array of industries, including: communication, consumerism, energy, infrastructure, healthcare, manufacturing, military, robotics and transportation. In particular, the Internet of Things (IoT) has quickly become an integrated part of daily life. The core knowledge and advanced skills to do IoT correctly are computer engineering, embedded software and cybersecurity techniques, which are core components of Gannon's Cyber Engineering curriculum.
