About the course
WKU Chemistry provides an amazing array of educational and professional opportunities for our students. Our department is home to a growing number of vibrant and enthusiastic teachers and researchers who are dedicated to their students in the both the classroom and in the research lab. Students interested in careers as professional chemists should seriously consider the ACS-certified Chemistry Major. The Department of Chemistry at WKU is on the approved list of the Committee on Professional Training of the American Chemical Society. For certification by this committee of the completion of minimum standards (48 hours of chemistry) for the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in chemistry, with the sequence recommended through your advisor. Sequencing for this major is important. For example, CHEM 330 is a pre-requisite for most of the 400-level courses in Chemistry, so needs to be completed by the beginning of the sophomore year if possible. How to apply
Entry requirements for Western Kentucky University
Students must meet ONE of the following requirements for admission: ACT composite of 20 or greater, or SAT combined score of 1020 or greater (940 or greater combined score accepted for tests taken prior to March, 2016)*, or Unweighted high school GPA of 2.50 or higher, or Achieve the required Composite Admission Index (CAI) score. IELTS - 6.0 or higher, TOEFL (Paper Based) – 525, TOEFL (TIBT) - 71 or higher.
