About the course

Chemical engineers are the creators of products that enhance our quality of life. They transform raw materials into the products we use daily. Our program prepares students for success beyond the traditional chemical and petroleum industries. Competency in areas such as food processing, bio technology, pharmaceutical production, and electronic manufacturing is achieved through the study of material and energy balances, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, chemical reactions, process control and other chemical processes. Entry requirements for Howard University

Submit Required Documents: All admission documents must be received before a decision can be rendered. All required documents can be viewed under Domestic Admission or International Admission. Unless otherwise noted, electronic submission (i.e. via Common App, an eTranscript system etc.) of documents is preferred. All non FTIC applicants may submit their transcripts electronically, if the college/university has an e-Transcript system.

　　Minimum requirements for admission to the College of Engineering and Architecture are:

　　(1) a combined SAT score of 1080 or a composite score of 23 on the ACT,

　　(2) graduation from a secondary school with a grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 or higher out of 4.0 or equivalent, and

　　(3) completion of at least 15 units of high school coursework, including a minimum of four units of English, two units of social science, two units of science, and three units of mathematics. A unit represents one year of study in any subject in a secondary school. Applicants must furnish the results of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT I and SAT II in Mathematics). Admission is based on an evaluation of the academic record, test scores and letters of recommendation.

　　A score of 90 on the Internet based (IBT) Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for applicants whose native language is not English. Only official reports from ETS will be accepted. Note: in lieu of the TOEFL (if not offered in your country), applicants may submit results from IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with an overall score of a 6.5.
