About the course

Along with considerable training in fundamental and applied science, undergraduate students majoring in Chemical Engineering learn how modern chemical engineering processes work and how they are used to produce today’s products. Students are prepared for entry into careers in a wide range of chemical engineering fields including petrochemical and petroleum refining, renewable energy, bioengineering, semiconductor manufacturing, and food processing. This comprehensive training also prepares students to pursue graduate education and research in chemical engineering at major research universities, or professional studies such as medicine or law. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of California

If English is not the applicant’s native language, or the language of instruction at school, English proficiency must be demonstrated in one of these ways:

　　• Pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 80 or higher (iBT).

　　• Pass the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of 600 or higher on the Paper Based Test (PBT).

　　• Pass the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5 or higher.

　　• Score 560 or higher on the Writing section of the SAT or 31 or higher on the new SAT Writing and Language test.

　　• Score 24 or higher on the combined ACT English/Writing or English Language Arts (ELA).

　　• Achieve a score of 3, 4 or 5 on the AP Exam in English Language and Composition or English Literature and Composition.

　　• Achieve a score of 6 or 7 on the International Baccalaureate (IB) Higher Level Examination in English (Language A).

　　• Complete a rigorous set of courses in secondary school (Grades 9–12). Complete a high level of academic achievement: To meet minimum requirements to be considered for UC Riverside selection, you must earn a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale (equivalent to an 85 percent on a 100 percent scale).
