About the course
The Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing Management Major Concentration: Professional Sales (PRSL) program in the Marketing Department in the Pamplin College of Business is designed to prepare students for careers in professional sales. According to a study by the Chally Group, nearly 66 percent of all college and university graduates will enter a sales career. Furthermore, data shows that over 80 percent of all marketing graduates nationally will accept a sales position. The Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing Management Major provides students with a wide variety of knowledge to serve as building blocks for today's business world. Students meet the challenge with an overall exposure and proficiency in research, social media, communications, consumer behaviors, as well branding and strategic planning. The Marketing Management major is designed to offer students a broad business education with an emphasis on professional training for careers in sales and marketing in manufacturing firms, such service industries as banking and healthcare, and non‐profit organizations. Within the Marketing major, students can pursue more specialized skills in the rapidly growing area of digital and social media, which also involves additional skills in marketing analytics. How to apply
Entry requirements for Virginia Tech
Before you can be considered for freshman admission, you must complete: 3 units of math (includes algebra I, geometry, and algebra II), 2 units of laboratory science (chosen from biology, chemistry or physics), additional academic units (foreign language is highly recommended). International students whose native language is not English must document proficiency in the English language by submitting either an IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE. Students taking the IELTS must obtain a score of at least 6.5, with no subscore below 6.5 to be considered for admission to Virginia Tech. Students taking the PTE must obtain a score of at least 53. Depending on the type of TOEFL used, Virginia Tech expects students to have scores of: Internet-based test: at least 80, with no section sub-score less than 16, Computer-based test: at least 233, Paper-based test: at least 550.
