About the course

The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science offers a bachelor of science (BSc) honours program in actuarial science within the Faculty of Science.

  The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science was created in 2001 and has since grown into a dynamic group of approximately 530 undergraduate students, 62 graduate students, and 24 faculty members. Statistics and Actuarial Science faculty have earned a national and international reputation for work in applied and theoretical statistics, actuarial science, and, more recently, data science. Undergraduate and graduate students flourish in the highly interactive and personalized environment that characterizes our department.

  The actuarial science major and honours programs introduce you to multiple disciplines (mathematics, statistics, economics, business, and computing) to prepare you for entry into the actuarial profession. Explore courses and co-op placements in a variety of actuarial fields, including life/health insurance, pensions, property & casualty insurance, financial risk management, and predictive analytics to find your best fit. How to apply

Entry requirements for Simon Fraser University

Official International High school Transcripts required.Submit a transcript which includes grades for all courses completed and final grades for the first semester of Senior Year. Graduation from a university-preparatory program at a senior high school.International Baccalaureate IB Diploma is required. IELTS overall score-6.5, TOEFL ibt-88. For admission, students must have completed each lower division required course in mathematics and statistics, or its equivalent, with a minimum C+ grade. Students are also required to have completed ACMA 210 with a minimum grade of C+ and have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.0.
