About the course
At its core the profession of quantity surveying is concerned with the financial management of construction projects and the administration of the contract that is signed between the client and the contractor to carry out the works. Quantity Surveyors understand and can quantify the extent of work necessary to complete any project before it is constructed and can advise clients and contractors of its cost right from the initial sketch design issued by the project Architect. This puts Quantity Surveyors in a unique position as Construction Professionals, as their core skills in contract and finance are highly sought after and are well rewarded. The BSc in Quantity Surveying in SETU Waterford is an internationally recognised Honours Degree programme. It boasts a 100% Graduate Employment record for each of the last 8 academic years placing our graduates amongst the most highly sought after in the industry. It has full accreditation from the SCSI permitting direct entrance to the assessment of professional competence. It provides 30 weeks paid work placement in year three of the programme. Students can choose to work locally or to travel abroad for these weeks if they so wish, in 2017 we have placed students in New York and Dubai as part of the programme.
The BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying has been designed to produce graduates who can successfully operate as professional quantity surveyors/costs consultants in the future Irish and global construction industry.
