About the course

Physics is the study of matter and energy and the laws that govern their interactions. Advances in technology, such as transistors, lasers and microwaves, all resulted from basic physics research. Beyond practical applications, the study of physics will help you see and explore aspects of the world that are invisible to our ordinary senses. We offer emphases in professional physics, applied physics or physics secondary education (teacher licensure). Our students frequently conduct research, including work at federal laboratories. How to apply

Entry requirements for Northern Illinois University

IELTS: Minimum required overall band score of 6.0. TOEFL: 71 on an Internet-based test, 527 on a paper-based test. The ACT or SAT is required for international freshmen applicants from U.S. high schools. High School Diploma: You must have graduated by the time you start at NIU in order to be admitted. Grades: You must have passing grades equivalent to a U.S. C plus average on all transcripts and/or exam scores.
