About the course

Music performance majors at Western Illinois University receive a broad liberal arts curriculum with a strong emphasis on performance skills. These skills are refined in one-on-one applied lessons with our world-renowned artist faculty members and in our nationally recognized large ensembles. In addition to performance, all music students take courses in music theory, ear-training, music history, and have the opportunity to take music electives in other areas like music business or composition. How to apply

Entry requirements for Western Illinois University

Hold a credential that is comparable to a U.S. high school diploma.

　　Have a grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. All marks and scores will be converted to a 4.0 grading scale.

　　Proof of English proficiency for admission to academics

　　Official high school (secondary school) exams, transcripts, or individual mark sheets sent from the school to International Admissions. If these documents are not in English, an official word for word English translation must be submitted with the original documents.

　　International students seeking admission into the School of Music must have the following scores in English proficiency tests: IBT TOEFL 79 or paper TOEFL 550 or IELTS 6.5.
