About the course
University students enrolled in String Pedagogy Program (called interns) study the teaching techniques and philosophies of pedagogues such as Galamian, Fisher, Rolland, Kendall, and Suzuki. In addition, interns study interdisciplinary topics and their relationship to music teaching and learning. Subjects included in this segment of their education include: human cognition, motivation theory, child development, kinesthetics (awareness of the body?s role in playing a stringed instrument), teaching and working with parents and the business of running a private music studio. How to apply
Entry requirements for University of New Mexico
Secondary Education: Completion of the equivalent of an American upper secondary school education (approximately twelve years of formal education beginning at age six) and have the appropriate diplomas or satisfactory results on leaving examinations (if completed).
Academic Preparation: Strong academic preparation or a U.S. equivalent grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (for freshman applicants) or 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (for transfer students with the equivalent of 24 college credithours).
ACT and SAT are NOT required for admission to UNM as an international student.
