About the course

The Jazz Studies Concentration is a pre-professional program for those whose intent is to pursue a career as a music performer in jazz and commercial styles of music. Students enrolled in this program are expected to attain a high standard of performance on their instrument, including the development of skills in jazz improvisation. How to apply

Entry requirements for University of New Mexico

Secondary Education: Completion of the equivalent of an American upper secondary school education (approximately twelve years of formal education beginning at age six) and have the appropriate diplomas or satisfactory results on leaving examinations (if completed).

　　Academic Preparation: Strong academic preparation or a U.S. equivalent grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (for freshman applicants) or 2.0 on a 4.0 scale (for transfer students with the equivalent of 24 college credithours).

　　ACT and SAT are NOT required for admission to UNM as an international student.
