About the course

With a Bachelor of Criminology in Criminal Behaviour you’ll learn about causes, intervention, and prevention. You’ll learn to challenge common perceptions of crime as you investigate why people commit offences, how to reduce or prevent crime, and how to help both victims and offenders involved in the criminal justice system. You’ll examine punishment as a solution to crime while also considering the role of treatment as a response to criminal behaviour and the importance of reintegration. Exploring criminal behaviour from a social, psychological, biological and legal perspective is an integral part of this course and you will consider the criminal behaviour of both adults and children. During your studies you’ll have the opportunity to learn the practical skills and ways of thinking that can help you forge a rewarding career after you graduate. How to apply

Entry requirements for Murdoch University

For admission into Murdoch you must be able to provide evidence of competency in the English language. This is usually achieved through one of the following:

　　A scaled score of 50% or more in ATAR English, English Literature or English as a Second Language (or interstate equivalent).

　　An Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall score of 6.5 (with no band below 6.5) or equivalent scores for the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic, TOEFL iBT or the Occupational English Test (OET).

　　6 months to 2 years of university-level study (taught in English), depending on grades and country of study.

　　Test of English as a Foreign Language - IBT (TOEFL IBT) -79 with no band less than 21

　　You are currently completing Year 12, or have completed it within the last two years, and are using the results you gained at school for entry. This includes ATAR (or equivalent from interstate or overseas) or vocational education and training qualifications completed during your studies at high school.
