About the course

The BFA in Studio concentration is our professional degree in fine arts that includes tracks in ceramics, painting/drawing, printmaking, sculpture, weaving, and a self-designed track where disciplines can be combined. This 73-hour program emphasizes both concept and application, with a focus on the development of an individual, professional studio practice and/or graduate work, as well as work in a range of fields and industries that make use of critical thinking and artistic skills. 6 Studio Tracks: Ceramics Track, Painting/Drawing Track, Printmaking Track, Sculpture Track, Weaving Track, Multi-Discipline Track. Weaving courses are taught in Room 469 of FAC Building. The facility maintains 11 large treadle looms for student creations. The space has an industrial sink and large tables for dyeing purposes. There are also sewing machines available for other fiber interests. Students begin studies learning traditional techniques of weaving. Further studies provide students opportunities to expand skills in other weaving traditions and explore contemporary perspectives in fibers/weaving.
