About the course
The BFA in Studio concentration is our professional degree in fine arts that includes tracks in ceramics, painting/drawing, printmaking, sculpture, weaving, and a self-designed track where disciplines can be combined. This 73-hour program emphasizes both concept and application, with a focus on the development of an individual, professional studio practice and/or graduate work, as well as work in a range of fields and industries that make use of critical thinking and artistic skills. 6 Studio Tracks: Ceramics Track, Painting/Drawing Track, Printmaking Track, Sculpture Track, Weaving Track, Multi-Discipline Track. Students who choose to concentrate in printmaking will spend their time emersed in the different printmedia including Screenprinting, Relief, Intaglio and Monotype/printmaking. Experimental methods, installation, large scale work and combining processes are highly encouraged in the program. The robust, inclusive print community is very welcoming Our printmakers consider it their second home. Our printmaking club loves to go out and get people excited about slinging ink We have a portable etching press we like to take on the road and do live printing events when possible Our studio is well maintained and dynamic. We recently got a new Takach Etching press with a captain?s wheel, allowing students to work up to 33 x60. We also have a 48 x 28 Kimber Etching Press. The press room has a number of large glass tables for inking, giving you plenty of room to explore larger scale works and a massive paper soaking sink (80 x31). There are 2 vertical etching baths for plates up to 18 x24. Our newly remodeled screenprinting area just got a new large, back lit washout booth, power washer and screen drying area. We have a number of portable presses for screenprinting and an updated darkroom. We have separate studio spaces for a select number of students who concentrate in the medium.
