About the course
Studio art students explore and create using the language of two- and three-dimensional form, space and time in various media and technologies, including ceramics, electronic arts and intermedia, graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture. There are two degree programs in studio art for undergraduate students. The bachelor of arts in studio art is a liberal arts program. The bachelor of fine arts in studio art is a professional program for students who anticipate careers in the practice of art or design or who plan on graduate study in those fields.
The Printmaking Program provides study in a variety of print media and approaches including intaglio, lithography, relief and collagraph. Students are expected to gain proficiency in the processes of each media. Instructor demonstrations provide increased understanding of the unique differences between Printmaking media, allowing students to gain confidence in their own abilities. Classes are small and foster a learning atmosphere that is communal yet personalized. Individual reviews and class critiques encourage discussion and the exchange of ideas and viewpoints.
