About the course
As consumer demand for sustainable products and services continues to grow, it has never been more important for businesses to understand the impacts and benefits of sustainable practices. In this double degree, you will learn about key sustainability issues, such as energy, water and waste management, and develop an appreciation of the interrelationships between environmental sustainability and business success. Throughout the degree, you will examine the sustainable use of our natural environment, and graduate with the skills and knowledge needed to find sustainable solutions for business and industry. The business component offers a suite of majors and courses that emphasise how core functions of business and management, such as communication, planning, teamwork, strategy, human resources and self-development, work together and relate to sustainability. You will develop the analytical, communication and decision-making skills needed for work in the business world, and graduate with an understanding of how these skills can be applied in an environmental context.
The final year includes a 'capstone' experience, where you will have the option to apply your skills to gain employment-relevant experience through a research project or industry internship. Depending on the majors selected, you could find career opportunities in research, government, non-government agencies, engineering and environmental consultancies, data collation and evaluation, administration, advertising, business and strategic management, planning and policy, and sales and marketing. You will be equipped for work in positions such as environmental consultant, management facilitator, project officer or information management officer.
