Civil engineers use principles of calculus and trigonometry to analyse, design and troubleshoot. Strong project management, communication, leadership, critical thinking and leadership skills are required. Students learn the key skills including skills in construction and surveying needed to become a professional civil engineer. The properties and use of concrete, steel, timber and soil, plus the physics and mechanics of large and small structures are also studied.
