About the course

This double degree could lead you to a career anywhere in the world. You’ll explore criminal behaviour, global security, legal studies, crime science and how terrorism impacts our world. Terrorism – and how to deal with it – has become one of the biggest security challenges of our time. This is the first course of its kind in Australia. It has been designed to build the expertise in criminology and security you need to help tackle today’s global concerns. In our Bachelor of Criminology you can specialise in Criminal Behaviour, Legal Studies or Crime Science. Learn what causes growing crime rates, what goes on behind criminal minds and behaviours, and discover how the legal system shapes our society. Our Bachelor of Global Security allows you to specialise in Terrorism and Counterterrorism Studies. Delve into the history and causes of terrorism, how it affects society and what can be done about it. This course is not offered anywhere else in Australia. Learn new ways of thinking to help address terrorism, today’s biggest global security challenge. Learn from experts in terrorism and criminology issues. They might even pop up on TV or in printed articles in between lectures because they’re often asked for their expertise, opinions and advice in the media. How to apply

Entry requirements for Murdoch University

For admission into Murdoch you must be able to provide evidence of competency in the English language. This is usually achieved through one of the following:

　　A scaled score of 50% or more in ATAR English, English Literature or English as a Second Language (or interstate equivalent).

　　An Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall score of 6.0 (with no band below 6.0) or equivalent scores for the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic, TOEFL iBT or the Occupational English Test (OET).

　　Successful completion of a University enabling course (e.g. OnTrack, FlexiTrack).

　　A score of 140 or more in the Written English component of the STAT test

　　Successful completion of either a Diploma (AQF Level 5 or higher) OR two University-level units (AQF Level 7 or higher).

　　Test of English as a Foreign Language - IBT (TOEFL IBT) - 73 with no band less than 18

　　You are currently completing Year 12, or have completed it within the last two years, and are using the results you gained at school for entry. This includes ATAR (or equivalent from interstate or overseas) or vocational education and training qualifications completed during your studies at high school.
