About the course
When children, youth and their families experience trauma, abuse, neglect or a significant loss, they need support to set a course for a positive future. The Child and Youth Care program provides you with the knowledge and skills to help individuals and families navigate mental health challenges, addiction, education, poverty, barriers to communication or family conflict. You learn to build relationships with individuals and families, helping them to gain new insights, access supports and learn strategies for navigating the complexities of their lives. Entry requirements for MacEwan University
Admission requirements include the high school subjects or post-secondary equivalents you need to complete and the minimum grades you need to achieve to be considered for admission into this program. Along with academic criteria, you will need to ensure additional admission criteria are met. IELTS–Academic - Minimum overall band score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 5.5 in each band. Internet-Based Test (IBT) - Minimum total score of 86 and a minimum score of 21 in each section.
Applicants must have a minimum overall average of 65 percent, with no course grade lower than 50 percent, in the following high school courses:
• ELA 30-1
• Four subjects from Group A, B, C, or D
