About the course

The accounting function provides timely, relevant and accurate information to the management of a business. This information is also used to assess the financial ‘health’ of a business and to make plans for the future. Accountants are involved in making many decisions necessary for the efficient operation of a business. Therefore, a well-run accounting function is critically important to the long-term management of a business.

  This four-year honours degree programme offers advanced specialist education in accounting, providing a firm base for either further academic study, a career in business or the pursuit of a professional qualification with one of the accountancy bodies.

How to apply

Entry requirements for Munster Technological University

For admission to a programme, standard applicants must

  score the necessary CAO points and

  meet the minimum entry requirements

  309 CAO Points in 2022 and meet minimum entry requirements

  Leaving Certificate in six subjects i.e. H5 in two subjects and O6/H7 in four other subjects. The six subjects must include either English or Irish grade O6/H7, and Mathematics O4/H7.

  Full Academic Transcripts/Marksheets (consolidated not accepted) or School Leaving Examination Certificate/High School Certificate Include official predicted grades if you have not finished high/secondary school.

  Final Degree Certificate + Institute marking scheme.

  English language proficiency certificate (if applicable).

  CV/Resume. Include relevant technical certificates if mentioned, for example, C++, Java.

  Statement of purpose. C.500 words on why you wish to do the course and why you would be a suitable candidate.

  If your first language is not English, you must provide evidence of English language proficiency.

  This must have been taken no more than two years prior to the start of your programme.

  IELTS- Level 1 At least 6.0 with no section below 5.5.

  TOEFL - Level 1 At least 80 with minimum scores (Listening 17, Reading 18, Speaking 20, Writing 17)
