About the course

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program is designed to prepare students for a career in business focusing on entrepreneurial skills and priorities. The importance of small business management is growing as small and medium sized enterprises continue to contribute to Canada's economy, the BBA explores the ethical, financial, and managerial issues that Canadian businesses and managers face daily. Students will learn fundamental business concepts, including accounting, human resource management, communications, marketing, information technology, law, and economics. In addition to completing core business courses, students will have the opportunity to customize their BBA based on their interests and career goals by selecting approved electives from a variety of different subject areas, including accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, and management.

  The BBA program also provides skilled tradespeople the opportunity to apply trades qualifications towards a bachelor's degree. How to apply

Entry requirements for Northwestern Polytechnic

Admission to the BBA program requires an overall high school average of 60 percent in the following four Alberta Education courses. Refer to the Classification of Alberta Education Courses:

  English 30-1

  Mathematics 30-1 (60%) or Mathematics 30-2 (70%)

  Two 30 level courses from Group A, B or C (Only one Fine Art course will be used for Admission)

  Applicants who have completed a Business Administration Diploma* are eligible for admission into Year 3 and 4 of the BBA based on the following criteria:

  Complete 60 credits earning a Business Administration Diploma (or equivalent) with a minimum 2.3 cumulative GPA (67% or C+)

  Applicants who have a recognized four-year journeyman trades qualification are eligible for admission into the BBA program and can gain up to 45 credits toward this degree. Students are expected to have university-level writing skills upon entry into this program.

  Applicants that have a journeyman trades qualification and 5+ years of experience, can apply for additional credits through the Prior learning Assessment & Recognition procedure.

  IELTS Academic -Overall 6.5, no band less than 5.5

  TOEFL iBT - At least 84, no section score below 21
