The Major in Performing Arts enables you to pursue two areas of interest at the same time with a focus on both drama and music.Create live and recorded theatre and music using digital technologies and production facilities.Apply for the Bachelor of Arts/Master of Teaching (Secondary) pathway to become a high teacher with Drama or Music as one of your teaching areas.Learn from world-class educators and researchers in Cultural Studies and Linguistics, Sociology, Creative Arts and Writing, Language, Communication and Culture.Benefit from on-campus learning facilities, including a sound studio and The Hartley Playhouse.Study overseas as part of your degree in the Hawke Ambassador International Volunteer Experience program or on an international student exchange.As a performing arts student you will study drama and music through performance practice and applied theory. This degree is flexible and opens up a diverse range of career possibilities.

  performer: entertain audiences through drama, music or both

  arts administrator/coordinator: involved with marketing, fundraising, publicity and market research

  performing arts technician: coordinate and perform the technical work required to maintain theatres, concert halls, or TV and film stage and production

Entry requirements for University of South Australia

Recent secondary education : Meet any prerequisite requirements with a minimum grade of C- or equivalent AND Qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), and achieved a competitive Selection Rank (ATAR), or Complete secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE, or Complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum score of 24 points.

  Higher education study : Complete or partly complete a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution, or Complete at least four Open Universities Australia (OUA) courses at undergraduate level or above.

  Vocational Education and Training (VET): Complete an award from a registered training organisation at Certificate IV or above.

  IELTS total [6.0], IELTS reading [6.0], IELTS writing [6.0]. TOEFL PBT - 550 with TWE of 4.5.TOEFL IBT - 60 with Reading and Writing not less than 18.
