About the course
Whether you plan to teach French or English, in Canada or abroad, you can get a head start by taking our second language teaching program. These multidisciplinary undergraduate programs are offered jointly by the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Arts, through the Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute (OLBI), will prepare you for the training required to teach adult learners as well as elementary and high school students. Courses cover the theories of language acquisition, as well as second language learning and teaching and explore the interrelationships between language, culture and society. During your training, you will design teaching activities based on the latest educational research and methods, and you?ll have a chance to apply your knowledge during 25 hours of professional internship in an educational or community setting.

How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Ottawa
Copies of transcripts submitted through uoDoc are not considered official. If you are admitted, you must submit your official transcripts with final grades.
Applicants enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Diploma program are eligible for admission if they have completed (or are in the process of completing) the full IB program and meet the following conditions:
Have passed six subjects (including the prerequisites for your program of choice) with at least three at the Standard Level and three at the Higher Level.
Have a minimum average of 29 points. The minimum average might be higher depending on the program you have chosen.
