About the course
The Bachelor of Arts, major in Music, is a Liberal Arts degree. [#583] 120 credit hours total, 48 or 36 in Music. This degree allows for a strong liberal arts education with a non-professional emphasis in music that can be combined with other fields of study such as: advertising, art, business, communications, English, foreign languages, history, journalism, marketing, philosophy, psychology, religion, and sciences. WKU students earning this degree have moved on to graduate study in Music (history, theory/composition, performance), Performing Arts Management, medical school, retail and banking positions, and university staff positions in admissions, graduate studies, development, and alumni relations. The Department of Music promotes the study and experience of music in its broadest sense: preparing artist teachers and performers, enhancing creativity and the human spirit, and enriching the quality of life on campus, in the region, and in our global community. We offer a broad range of music degrees, ensembles, community programs, and activities that exemplify musical diversity and the development of artistic excellence. Our department strives to engage music majors, minors, general students, community members, patrons, and audiences with a love and passion for creativity, expression, and performance through the fine art of making music. The WKU music faculty believe that music is an essential part of life.
