About the course
Lamont flutists are part of a focused, collaborative and encouraging studio that is led by one of the most sought-after orchestral flute and piccolo players in the country. Professor Julie Duncan Thornton currently performs with the Colorado Symphony and has previously performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Saint Louis Symphony, the Oregon Symphony, the Minnesota Orchestra and the Houston Symphony. She serves on the faculty of the Colorado College Sumer Music Festival, where she teaches some of the top college flutists and performs chamber music with world class faculty artists. She has appeared as soloist with the Colorado Symphony, the Lakewood Symphony, the Greece (NY) Symphony, the Colorado Young Sinfonia and at the National Flute Association's Boston and Chicago conventions. Performances with the Trio Arcadia (Flute, Horn and Harp) have taken her to Australia. Recent Lamont online Flute and Wellness Masterclasses have featured Chelsea Knox (Metropolitan Opera Principal Flute), Anna Conigliari (Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra 2nd Flute), and Gareth McLearnon. Current Lamont students are performing in the National Flute Association Convention this summer and attending prominent flute and piccolo masterclasses.
