About the course

The Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS) field offers its professionals a chance to work with a variety of individuals of any age and their families in different service settings. HDFS courses prepare you for future work with members of families, helping them through systems and enhancing their relationships through experiential learning in the community while providing a foundation of knowledge for your career. The Individual and Family Services concentration is for those students who want to learn about and work with adolescents, adults or in all-age fields/settings along with their families. Students who successfully complete the program qualify for an abbreviated application process to obtain a CFLE (Certified Family Life Educator) certification after graduation.

　　As an individual and family studies concentration student, you?ll take a balance of general education courses, College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences core courses and Human Development and Family Studies courses.

　　As a HDFS graduate, you?ll have a broad set of skills that will facilitate your professional work with families, helping them through systems and enhancing their relationships. How to apply

Entry requirements for Purdue University Northwest

An Official High School Transcript or GED Scores (if applicable)

　　Original or attested copies of academic documents from all secondary schools attended should be mailed in a sealed envelope from the secondary school or the examination board. The record must be an official copy bearing an original stamp or seal. If the original is not in English, include a certified, detailed translation.

　　Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)

　　Score of 79 or higher, for Internet Based TOEFL (iBT)

　　British O-Level English Language Exam with a Grade of A or B on Ordinary Level of GCE/GCSE/IGCSE
