Climate change, biodiversity, energy and the economy. The world is waking up like never before to the importance of protecting our environment. Those with expertise in environmental science will contribute to ensuring the future health of our planet. At Dalhousie, Environmental Science is an interdisciplinary academic program that integrates research and principles from several disciplines to important issues related to the state of the environment.

　　Dalhousie?s Environmental Science program encourages you to explore the environment from scientific perspectives, as well as the political, cultural, ethical, and historical angles. You can make it your main focus of study or combine it with other programs.

　　First year students will start by taking foundation courses to fulfill core requirements. You?ll start by learning the fundamentals of environmental science and explore topics such as current environmental challenges, the ecosphere, resources and sustainability. Students can explore their personal interests through electives. You?ll get outside the classroom and gain hands-on experience conducting field studies in nearby forests, marshes, rivers and city parks.
