Bachelor of Arts in English- English as a Second Language

About the course

The English as a Second Language (ESL) concentration allows students to focus beyond their core English literature, language, and writing courses. Specialized study in ESL methods and in language assessment provides students with the basic skills needed to teach ESL in the US and abroad. Students enrolled in the ESL concentration can choose between two tracks: a general ESL track and a track leading to PreK-12 licensure as an ESL teacher. Click the links below for more information on each: English as a Second Language General Track, English as a Second Language PreK-12 Licensure Track. The English Department allows you to write a degree program that will help you reach your career goals as you choose one of our six undergraduate concentrations: African American Literature, Creative Writing, ESL, Language and Linguistics, Literature, and Professional Writing.
