About the course

Gain a deep understanding of the economy and examine the social, cross-cultural, and ethical dimensions of economic decision-making. You?ll learn how to choose and apply appropriate quantitative methods to a range of economic issues, and effectively communicate complex economic issues. Your studies will include courses such as ?Introduction to Game Theory and Applications? and ?Economics of Renewable Resources.?

  Economics offers expertise in a variety of fields including industrial organization, labour, economic measurement, economic history, macroeconomics, public policy, and international trade and finance development, as well as resource, health, and transitional economics. You may select a Minor, Major, or Honours program in Economics, as well as Combined Major programs in Economics and Political Science, Economics and Philosophy, Economics and Statistics, or Economics and Mathematics. Entry requirements for University of British Columbia

General admission requirements

  Graduation from a university-preparatory program at a senior secondary school: Standing in at least six academic subject areas, including English, with at least three UBC-approved academic A Levels (or six at the Advanced Subsidiary Level). A subject may not be counted at both the A Level and the GCSE Level (O Level). A Level and AS Level courses that are not sufficiently academic in content (as determined by UBC) cannot be used.

  Admission average calculated on final year academic courses/exams: Your admission average is calculated on at least two GCSEs (O Levels) and three GCE A Levels (or six Advanced Subsidiary Levels).

  If you studied British-patterned education, you may be eligible for first-year credit at UBC. Learn more about how first-year credit is granted to see if you are eligible.

  No specific courses required beyond those needed for general admission

  International Baccalaureate - Completion of the IB Diploma with a minimum score of 24 points, including at least three Higher Level courses and additional points for Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge.

  Completion of Standard Level or Higher Level English A at a minimum score of 3, where English is the primary language of instruction.

  International English Language Testing System (Academic) 6.5, with no part less than 6.0, TOEFL Internet-based test - Overall: 90 (Reading: 22, Listening: 22, Writing: 21, Speaking: 21)
