About the course

American Sign Language (ASL) is a visual language with unique grammar and syntax. ASL consists of body and facial expressions along with handshapes, movement, and location of signs.

　　ASL Students can choose an Interpreting focus in the degree, or the traditional B.A. path. Students will be trained in Deaf Culture, Poetry for ASL, Storytelling for ASL, Ethics in Interpreting, in addition to hands-on learning through the OSU Language Lab. ASL students also have access to the Mango app (ASL tips and training) for free Students may also link up with the American Sign Language Club on campus.
