About the course

A BA/LLB(Hons) conjoint allows you to complete a BA and the LLB(Hons) in less time, and with fewer points, than it would take to complete the two degrees separately. This degree develops essential skills that help students to adapt and thrive in a fast-changing, globalised society. By studying Law, you can arm yourself with a skill set that meets the high demands of many careers, inside and outside of the legal profession. You can complement your legal study with a wide range of subjects in the humanities, social sciences, cultures and languages. Your BA/LLB(Hons) study can help you to develop strong capabilities for many careers. You will develop knowledge of the law and its implications, and a sense of justice and public responsibility. Our graduates can be found practising law in New Zealand and worldwide. They?re pursuing the new opportunities opened up by developments in society, technology and business.

　　You will acquire knowledge of ancient Greek language. This gives you access to literary texts, so you can develop an appreciation of ancient Greek literature, philosophy and history. The Greeks established literary genres that have had a profound influence on European literature. Ancient Greek masterpieces include Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, the histories of Herodotus and the dramas of Euripides and Aristophanes. Greek myth and legend is a formative element of the European imagination, and the central stream of European philosophy flows from the thought and writings of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.
