About the course

With a BA/BCom conjoint you can combine your core courses in business and enterprise with a wide range of subjects in the humanities, social sciences, cultures and languages. You can develop skills that are essential for adapting and thriving in a fast-changing, globalised economy. You will be able to use your knowledge and skills in many different careers and employment settings. The BA/BCom usually takes four years to complete. You can choose up to two subjects as your major(s) for the BA component of your conjoint, and would normally take four or five BA courses each year. You can also choose to take up to two modules There are seven compulsory Stage I courses for the BCom component of your conjoint, after which you can focus on your chosen major(s). A BA/BCom conjoint study can help you to develop strong capabilities for many careers, including advanced communication skills, critical and creative thinking, the ability to research and evaluate information, the ability to analyse problems and seek solutions, adaptability, and an awareness of different perspectives. You will be well-positioned to pursue new opportunities opened up by changes and developments in society, technology and business.

  Accounting is one of the eleven subjects you can study in the Bachelor of Commerce, often combined with Finance or another Business subject as a double major. You can study Accounting as a single major or as a double major alongside one of the other majors offered within the Bachelor of Commerce - such as Finance, which is a popular choice. You can also study towards the Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting as part of a conjoint degree programme. (In a conjoint programme, you study for two degrees at once, attaining the qualification in a shorter time than it would take to complete the two programmes separately.)
