About the course

Do fieldwork in the Bay Area. Explore your surroundings from different perspectives ? biological, chemical, geological, sociological, political, philosophical, economic, ethical. Bring your ideas to environmental studies and prepare to make a difference in government agencies, nonprofit organizations, industry, or graduate school. The Environmental Studies Program is interdisciplinary in nature, reflects the current state of the field, recognizes the relationship between human behavior and nature in ecological issues, and responds to the Jesuit call to promote environmental justice and ethical stewardship of the natural world.

  Students will:

  Integrate perspectives of multiple disciplines to understand the complexities of human-environment interactions

  Demonstrate an understanding of the range of environmental issues and the roles of humans and institutions in responding to them

  Analyze critically and develop socio-culturally appropriate strategies to resolve environmental problems

  Connect environmental problems to issues of social justice through study and community engagement

Entry requirements for University of San Francisco

High School Transcript: Showing grades from 9th through 11th grade.

  Fall Senior Grades: Required of any Early Decision or Early Action applicant who is deferred. Highly recommended for students applying Regular Decision.

  Early Decision Agreement: Required only for Early Decision applicants. You must invite your parent and counselor to affirm the Early Decision Agreement.

  School Report

  Academic Recommendation: One recommendation from your school counselor or a teacher in a core academic subject.

  (Optional) SAT or ACT scores: Beginning with students who apply for fall 2020 admission, USF will no longer require students to submit standardized test scores when applying for undergraduate admission.

  Eligibility for undergraduate admission requires a TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test) score of at least 65, a IELTS Overall Band score of at least 6.0, or a PTE Academic score of at least 46
