About the course

The BA Youth Work and Community Development offers degree level professional education and training. It is a unique, value-based course underpinned by a commitment to social justice, anti-oppressive practice and empowerment. These values inform teaching, learning, and the development of practice skills, enabling students to develop critical knowledge and understanding of a range of societal issues and problems that impact the lives of young people and the wider community. Topics include, but are not restricted to: social inequalities and social injustice, poverty, discrimination, participation and rights, mental health and wellbeing, safeguarding, social media, environmental justice, and crime and violence.

　　The course provides opportunities for students to acquire the academic and professional competencies required for becoming innovative and reflective youth and community development workers. It encourages students to be personally, socially and politically engaged with their respective communities, and, utilising a ?strengths-based? approach to practice, seeks to enable students to foster and create positive social change.

Entry requirements for Liverpool Hope University

A-Levels - BBC

　　UCAS Tariff Points - 112 UCAS Tariff points must come from a minimum of two A Levels (or equivalent). Additional points can be made up from a range of alternative qualifications

　　BTEC - DMM

　　Access to HE - 112 Tariff Points

　　IB - 28

　　Irish Leaving Certificate - 112 Tariff Points from Higher Level qualifications only

　　Welsh Baccalaureate - This qualification can only be accepted in conjunction with other relevant qualifications

　　T-Levels - 120 Tariff Points / Merit

　　Subject Requirements - GCSE Grade C or above in English (Grade 4 or above in the new grading system) Students applying for the BA Youth and Community Development Course must have some practice experience working with young people and/or adults in the wider community through a variety of settings. This can be through paid or voluntary experiences. Offers will be subject to a Health Check Statement and an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formally the Criminal Records Bureau – CRB). Unfortunately, due to requirements of the placement providers we are unable to consider any applicants with convictions within 5 years of the start of the course. Additionally, all applicants will be required to undertake an interview.
