About the course
Studying our BA Graphic and Communication Design course at the University of Leeds teaches you to become a creative and critical thinker, engaging with society and exploring practical applications of design and communication. You’ll be equipped with a broad range of resilient skills that are adaptable within the ever-changing design landscape. Through a variety of immersive modules, you’ll learn about innovative technologies, design theory and develop the ability to respond creatively to global challenges in a lasting and positive way. Our course balances research activities and contextual studies as much as creative practice. Through a combination of making, reading, and writing, you'll become a critical and creative thinker and practitioner. Our challenge-led teaching will help you to develop the key theoretical, practical, and professional skills vital in the creative industries. We embrace user-centred approaches, teaching graphic design as a transformative system to create powerful social and economic impact.
You’ll build a strong foundation in subjects such as typography, interaction design and design for print, completing challenging briefs that will push you to achieve your best. At every stage of the course you can also choose options to match your passions. By offering you a Year in Industry or a year studying abroad, we provide the flexibility to support you in shaping your education to reach your ambition.

How to apply
Entry requirements for University of Leeds
A-level: ABB including an art or design-related subject and not including General Studies or Critical Thinking. IB-34 overall (16 higher, with 5 or 6 in art/visual art/design)
IELTS 6.0 overall, with no less than 5.5 in any component. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) of 87 (with no less than 20 in listening, 20 in reading, 22 in speaking and 21 in writing).
