BA (Hons) Fashion Design (Sandwich Year)

About the course

Our award-winning BA (Hons) Fashion Design course has a credible reputation within the fashion industry. We are renowned for producing successful graduates who go on to become creative and innovative designers. Fashion Design at the University of Central Lancashire is all about pushing you to reach your true potential. To do this we have created three pathways that allow you to play to your strengths, with the flexibility to select the outcome that works best for you. Our conceptual places the emphasis on the manufacture of garments using creative shape-making, avant-garde silhouettes, sustainable textile solutions and pushing the boundaries with forward-thinking concepts, creating an outstanding final collection. Our commercial pathway places the emphasis on CAD, 2D design and trend awareness, creating garments for specific customers. Brief outcomes would still include garment manufacture, but your folio work has a higher weighting. Finally, our enterprise pathway encompasses the growing trend for start-up businesses within the fashion field. You will work on the fashion briefs to build skills in manufacture, pattern cutting and design, but you will have enterprise modules thought the three years of study, meaning you are far more knowledgeable about setting up your own business upon graduation.

Our sandwich degrees offer the perfect blend of academic study and practical work experience, allowing you to build confidence in the workplace and graduate work-ready from your degree programme.

Our previous graduates have found their sandwich year particularly beneficial as it has allowed them to gain practical, hands-on experience within their chosen career and the opportunity to learn directly from professionals based out in industry. It is not uncommon for sandwich year programmes to also open up future work opportunities in similar fields or professions for our graduates. Scholarships - View all scholarships Internships
