Established in 1967, the college is an applied arts and technology institution with an educational heritage of over fifty years. Loyalist College offers a variety of accredited post-secondary courses at different levels of study and is home to around 3,000 full-time students annually.

Loyalist College has deep roots in the local and regional economy, generating around 6,000 jobs within the region and adding over 1,000 new graduates to the workforce each year, many of whom decide to work and live locally after completing their course. The college recently received confirmation of a CAD 2.8 million government grant, awarded over three years, which is part of a CAD 600 million programme aimed at enhancing post-secondary schools' facilities.
The college will invest this funding into a number of programs at the school including a full renovation of the culinary wing, and brand new food-technology labs furnished with the latest equipment. There are also plans for a new integrated health and wellness facility, which will provide a range of spaces for massage therapy and esthetics programs. Funding will also be distributed to healthcare programs, ensuring equipment and technology is up to date and fulfils the most rigorous professional standards.
College teaching staff are highly qualified, with extensive experience and enthusiasm in their subject areas.
