About the course
This 1 year full-time, 2 year part-time (maximum) course is available at Hobart and, subject to available supervision, at Launceston. The course aims to provide: advanced training in the major area of the student's pass degree, opportunity for training in research, to prepare candidates for further research study, eg MSc and PhD programs and employment in research organisations, and in-depth knowledge in a single area of science. Honours graduates are highly competitive for professional careers in their area of specialisation. Graduates of the BSc(Hons) are eligible for membership of a number of professional organisations. Each candidate will conduct research and write a thesis. In addition, candidates maybe required to study and pass one or more advanced level units and undertake other activities which may include the preparation of literature reviews, essays and grant applications and the presentation of seminars. Each specialisation has a set of core units that must be enrolled in to complete the research project, and some specialisations allow the student to enrol in elective coursework units. International Qualifications - Minimum score of 7 calculated using 2 or 3 H2 level subjects.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma - Overall score of 24. IELTS (Academic) - 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5). TOEFL (iBT) - 72 (no skill below: Reading 10, Listening 9, Speaking 16, Writing 19)
